Francis, The Holy Jester

No other Christian saint has had so great an influence as St Francis of Assisi – quite simply, he told great stories, and great stories grew up around him.

In his own English translation of Dario Fo’s re-working of some of the Francis legends, Italian actor Mario Pirovano reveals the Saint’s humanity and compassion, his wisdom and anarchic humour.
This show, in aid of Great and Little Gransden Churches, is funny, poignant and thought-provoking – an evening not to be missed!
Great Gransden Church, Friday, 15 February at 7.30 pm. Tickets are £9 (£8 concessions) from Great Gransden Village Stores or Sylvia Sullivan telephone 01767 677906 – email ssulledit@aol.com.
Currently undertaking a short tour of the UK, Mario Pirovano has studied and worked extensively with Dario Fo, one of the world’s most renowned influential actors and playwrights, who is a winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature.
